Highlights of Accomplishments - 2002
- David L. Levy meets with President Bush following his signature on a bill providing for mentoring children of prisoners, and to offer support for the Bush Administration Fatherhood Bill H.R. 2893 providing $64 million for each of five years.
- Published results of a meta-analysis published by the Journal of Family Psychology of 33 studies that show that children in joint custody arrangements were as well adjusted as child in intact families, and better adjusted than children in sole custody arrangements.
- The State of Ohio officially declared the last week of September as “Parents’ Week” throughout the state culminating with a panel discussion among state senators, representatives, mayors and judges addressing the role of government in helping families and parents.
- CRC actively supports reauthorization of the Welfare Reform Law and particularly, the House version H.R. 4737 which includes $20 million a year in funding for Fatherhood programs.
- CRC hosts 14th annual national conference “Family Rights” and first Child Access/Safe Haven Training Conference in Baltimore, with special performance by country music star Hadassah Luther.
- CRC and its chapters establish 17 Safe Haven Child Access sites in six states – Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia.
