Highlights of Accomplishments - 1986

• CRC urges U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to include enforcement of access orders in concert with orders for child support; and to modify the Federal agency name to the Office of Child Support and Access Enforcement.
• CRC introduces terminology concept to replace the term “visitation” with “access” based on the perception that non-custodial parents are not visitors in their child(ren)’s life, and because “access” focuses on the child’s right of connection with each parent.
• Advocated resolution of a bill which ultimately passed in Congress urging the states to assure grandparents “visitation” rights.
• CRC hosts First national conference in Arlington, Virginia focusing on the theme “The Needs of Children of Divorce”.
